Jacob Hoffmeier
Generation 2 - First Immigrant
Although not the oldest of his siblings, Jacob was the first of his immediate family to leave for America. His parents and a younger sister had died. His older brother John was married with a rapidly growing family. Perhaps the family farm was not large enough for both John and Jacob, Napoleon was history but there was discord between religions and political thought, or maybe he just had a desire for adventure and to settle in a new country. Whatever his reasons, he said goodbye to family and friends and headed for America.
